About Inspired: A pivoting moment led me to live life to the fullest

PAST

What was my pivoting moment? Losing my job after working 27 years with my previous company. But life-changing events will always occur, and it is a matter of what you choose to do when that happens. I realized this was my time for adventure and self-discovery, which inspired me to create my second act. My second act has taken me from a ca

What was my pivoting moment? Losing my job after working 27 years with my previous company. But life-changing events will always occur, and it is a matter of what you choose to do when that happens. I realized this was my time for adventure and self-discovery, which inspired me to create my second act. My second act has taken me from a career in the pharmaceutical industry to using my transferable talents/skills and discovering my creative side-a love for designing and writing!

My personal journey:

  • Co-hosted "The Life 2.0 Show" on cable TV and Hosted "Living Life 2.0 Podcast," interviewing women who successfully own their second act under the Life 2.0 Community.
  • Pursued my love for interior design at Middlesex College and the New York School of Interior Design
  • Worked for "Elegant Interiors by Sabrina," which included co-staging the selling of Queen Latifah's Colts Neck, NJ home.
  • Taught a course on creating your second act as an Adjunct Instructor at Westchester Community College

PRESENT

At the time of this writing, I am 2 years away from turning 70, and according to the definition of midlife (40-65), I am still determining what I am. My thoughts on aging, and staying productive, while encouraging women over 50 and beyond to remain curious, never stop seeking adventure and self-discovery led me to create Second Act Inspir

At the time of this writing, I am 2 years away from turning 70, and according to the definition of midlife (40-65), I am still determining what I am. My thoughts on aging, and staying productive, while encouraging women over 50 and beyond to remain curious, never stop seeking adventure and self-discovery led me to create Second Act Inspiration.  The "depth of [our] journey” will inspire each other and younger women to know that with age comes wisdom and the desire to stay curious, serve as role models and live life to the fullest!

Living an inspired life to me means:

  • Creating a home that is comfortable and welcomes family and friends who enter with love
  • Taking nothing for granted, given all that we have experienced living through the pandemic
  • Staying true to the core beliefs that have wisely guided me throughout my life
  • Continuing to strut my style by not succumbing to the opinion of others
  • Looking forward to experiencing what lies ahead with the love of my life for 42 years

A sign reads 'THE FUTURE IS FEMALE' against a blurred green background.

FUTURE

FUTURE

I often wonder what the generations of women before me thought about living their best life. As a child watching television, women were portrayed as housewives, raising the family and caring for the home. But deep down inside, what were the hidden dreams of previous generations of women that were never expressed? Was there ever the though

I often wonder what the generations of women before me thought about living their best life. As a child watching television, women were portrayed as housewives, raising the family and caring for the home. But deep down inside, what were the hidden dreams of previous generations of women that were never expressed? Was there ever the thought of how uniting the power of their voices could change the status quo? Thankfully we saw it when women earned the right to vote. But the world will be better off as more voices are heard and more barriers are broken.

The future is female because:

  • More than ever, the world needs our talents and skills to make a difference globally
  • We are powerful role models that other generations of women did not have
  • Our actions are teaching young girls to dream big, bold dreams and how to live life to the fullest

Simply put, women can change the world; just look around us. Second Act Inspiration serves as a resource to awaken that power!
